According to your experience, how much value is placed on design & UX strategy methods in companies?

October 11, 2018 by Dimitrios Stamatis

Throughout my career, I had the pleasure to work primarily inside design agencies. Design ethos was at the core and could be experienced in the culture, direction, and value offering to the clients. In such an environment you do not have to fight to prove the value of design as it is well understood and appreciated. Companies are businesses and to be successful in the long run they have to adapt to the changing landscape. New frameworks and methodologies such as the Human Centered Design usually are introduced by a segment of the company and gain further acceptance when they can reveal proven results in client projects. Adding extra services such as UX strategy really depends on the direction of the company and the vision of the CEOs and stakeholders, as well as the business opportunities. If there is a growing market demanding for UX Strategy services and it matches the skillset and direction of the company then it is very possible this service will be added to the arsenal. Adoption of various domains and methodologies is highly subjective as well as the inner workings of every company. In general design-driven organizations are much more likely to value HCD and UX strategy methodologies.

About Dimitrios Stamatis

I am a designer of physical and digital products with a background in industrial design and visual communication. I have worked in design consultancies in London, China, and Greece. I strive to design products, services, and experiences that address pressing human needs by enabling change, challenging preconceptions and shifting paradigms. I like to prototype possibilities, simplify complexities and bring the future a little closer. I am fascinated by human behavior (mostly the irrational side) and I like to question a lot.
