In order to innovate in the hard and competitive field of UX and UI design you have to be a pioneer in just about every segment you consider being your job. You have to constantly improve upon your own designs and skillset in order to just keep yourself competitive, let alone innovate in the sphere. While just starting out, you should not try to innovate the whole industry, which is logical as you will get demotivated very fast and this will greatly diminish your performances.
Innovation will come from within with experience in the field and many completed projects backed up by understanding client needs, what clicks to people, what they like and don’t like, what are their passions and what they absolutely hate. Innovation doesn’t take genius-like potential but it takes years and years of figuring out the needs of the industry and them building upon that knowledge to make yourself a more complete designer. Aim to find projects that are innovative to your skillset and from which you reckon you can get lessons that will take your skills further. After all, it takes a little bit of luck as well to build the next-and great project that people will look up to in the world of tomorrow.
