Yes, you totally can. Age shouldn’t define what you should be doing or if you want to shift careers. All it requires is a whole lot of learning and hard work. One may feel a little old getting into a field now dominated by young students and veterans, but don’t worry about it. Getting into UX is not difficult at all if you are willing to put it all the efforts to learn it. Take things a step at a time; don’t drown yourself with advanced concepts and things you don’t understand right at the beginning. Start out with UX design basics, read up books on design, learn the tools needed for design, find a mentor/friend to guide on design principles and ideas and take design courses on IDF or HFI or any other online course portals like Udemy, Coursera, Udacity and others. It’s all about the amount of work you put in, your willingness to learn and put your best efforts in. Some of the best designers today started out late in their careers and are now top of the field. It will take time, but the efforts will pay off.
