What is the difference between a scenario and a user flow?

March 13, 2019 by uday nandan

In simple terms, a scenario is a scene we assume that may or may not happen when the user uses an app/product. For example, logging in to a ride-sharing app, booking a cab, payments, creating a profile, cancelling a cab etc, are the various instances (or scenarios) that we come up with when coming up with solutions for delivering the experience/or when we are testing the app. We make a list of the probable scenarios that may happen when users use the app/product. How the users go through each of the scenarios is what is termed as a user flow. User flow is basically how the user goes from point A to point B; the various steps he takes to complete the given task, in this case, like how he goes about booking a cab.
