How do you design and build UX for website?

July 9, 2018 by Swathi Kirthyvasan

There are several steps in designing a website UX, but the underlying question that we wouldn’t sometimes take into account when thinking in terms of design is simple: asking questions. We, ask designers are there to convey the ideas of people and make communication simple between different mediums, cultures, languages, and capabilities.

So, we must constantly question everything and not take anything for granted but give people web UX design in terms they are already familiar with. Are the mouse and keyboard adequate representations of UI and UX? What would happen if our keys were allocated differently, or if the mouse was square or triangular in shape? Perhaps our user experience would be better, but we are certainly accustomed to some standards. Have these standards in mind when designing your next website UX, as some parts are not ready for a revolution just yet. Have in mind different monitor sizes, capabilities of code and some existing standards like reading direction, per say.

Other than that, I believe we should constantly evaluate and analyze not just others’ work but our own work as well and try to gradually improve in any segment while designing. Before going head first to the blank canvas, first study others’ designs, find examples you like, and ask yourself: “Why do I like this? What works for this website?”.

Start developing the UX and ask yourself if your layout is semantically and logically appropriate – does it make sense? Do this throughout the whole design process, not just in the end, but try to think about the meaning rather than the aesthetics.
Lastly, constantly analyze and test your designs. Go out there and show your work to the world! The valuable feedback you will get from real users will make or break the design, and you will grow immensely. These are the definite steps in designing an amazing website UX.
