Do any conferences happen in India on UX/usability? Where to find list?

June 28, 2018 by uday nandan

Yes, there are organizations who conduct events on UX and Usability in India. Some companies host events on Design in general where the talks and networking happen around the Design field but not specific to UX but there are events in India exclusive on UX too.

User Experience Design has taken the front seat as a career option for many students for past few years and there are many working professionals also who are doing a position jump to this field. The increased demand for the field has paved way for many organizations to conduct events, talks, and workshops to bring all design enthusiasts in one place.

Professional UX Designers with a profound experience in the industry have identified the potential in conferences and events as a platform for knowledge gaining and networking. In India, there have been many conferences that got incepted in the recent past and overall, there are around 4 – 5 top events which take place everywhere across different cities.

What do you get from Events?

This is a subjective question to answer as it purely depends on an individual. Some might like networking, being active on the stage, conduct workshops, collaborate and on the contrary, there will be people who might be more focused. But, attending events is like attending interviews where you get the experience and exposure.

The type of event and the people hosting it also matters most of the time because one can set some expectations before going there as they showcase pretty much everything on their website about the event. Some events will be hosted for the purpose of publicity and they will not be of much use to attend unless the agenda is clear.

So, attending events is always good and you should consider it as a platform to meet people, listen to speeches, collaborate with fellow designers in workshops (if they conduct) and of course lots of food and fun.

Are Events Paid?

Most of the events will generally be paid ones but students will get good discounts. Depending on who is hosting the event and their background, the pricing can be higher or affordable. Of course, there will be some events which will be free too but you need to constantly keep updated on what’s going on in the industry so you don’t miss any event updates.
