What are the roles and responsibilities of a Senior UX Designer?

July 10, 2018 by uday nandan

Research users and analyze their needs – as this is essential to understanding the wishes and needs of clients and constantly developing great UI’s time after time, after time. You should be able to conduct different types of research and should be able to understand different needs, so to be a designer, psychologist, sociologist and perhaps a construction worker, a housewife, and a stockbroker at a time.

Develop wireframes, use-case diagrams, task flows and prototypes for users – after the initial research, the next step would be to go into development. Essential for testing UX are wireframes as they can be easily changed whether digital, paper cut-outs or other mediums. I believe a senior should be able to incorporate design principles flawlessly and tell what works and what doesn’t for the end user, while also keeping ahead of the competition.

Management and guidance – very important as you gain experience and people start looking at you for mentorship and guidance. I believe you should work on your management capabilities and soft people skills as here working with coworkers and users, communicating between the two and working on their needs and capabilities is a must for your skillset. You should be able to provide stability in the environment you are working.
