How can a UI/UX Designer deal with developers?

August 3, 2018 by Swathi Kirthyvasan

For a user experience designer or user interface designer to be able to deal with developers is a valuable skill because no project or product can be developed by and individual alone. So, how do you go about communication with developers, who don’t understand your design flow, principles, and always seem to go about ruining your designs when going into development?

Simple, just as you would go about talking and communicating to any human being on the world. Try to understand their point of view, their skillset and the problems that engulf them. By understanding their needs you can go about understanding where your problems in communication begin from. Try to be compassionate and avoid conflict at all cost, as you want coworker relations to be one of your first priorities. These are the people you are bound to work with long hours over longer projects spanning months or years down the pipeline.

Get in their mind, try to be in their shoes for a day, go online and find some development tutorials and try to get some work in. You will get deeper respect for your coworkers and understand their limits and problems better.
