What are typical deliverables for a user experience consultant?

January 30, 2023 by Swathi Kirthyvasan

A user experience (UX) consultant typically delivers a range of documents and artifacts that help to define and communicate the design of a product or system. Some common deliverables include:

  1. User research: Reports and summaries of research findings, such as user personas, user needs and goals, and task analysis.
  2. Information architecture: Wireframes, site maps, and navigation models that define the organization and structure of content and functionality.
  3. Interaction design: Mockups, prototypes, and design specifications that describe the layout, behavior, and visual design of the user interface.
  4. Usability testing: Reports, summaries, and videos of usability testing sessions, which provide feedback on the design and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Design guidelines: Design guidelines, pattern libraries, and style guides that document the design system and ensure consistency across the product.
  6. Project plan and schedule: A project plan and schedule that outlines the steps and deliverables required to complete the project on time and within budget.
  7. Final report: A final report that summarizes the project and its outcomes, including any recommendations for future work.
  8. Presentation: A presentation of the final deliverables to stakeholders, which includes the final report, user research, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to review and approve the design.

It’s worth noting that the deliverables may vary depending on the project scope, the client’s needs and the consultant’s approach.
