What is the difference between product thinking and design thinking?

January 18, 2023 by Swathi Kirthyvasan

Product thinking is a mindset and approach focused on understanding and solving customer problems through creating and improving products. It often involves researching customer needs, developing product requirements, and creating a roadmap for product development.

Design thinking, on the other hand, is a creative problem-solving approach that involves understanding the user, exploring possibilities, and prototyping solutions. It is often used in the design and development of new products, services, and experiences, and emphasizes empathy, experimentation, and iteration.

Both product thinking and design thinking are important for creating successful products, but they have different focuses and objectives. Product thinking is more focused on identifying customer needs and creating a plan to meet them, while design thinking is more focused on exploring potential solutions and iterating on them to create the best possible user experience.
