How would you measure ROI in a UX project?

September 3, 2018 by uday nandan

How will one get a return on investment with UX design? what has the design to do with the financial aspects of a product? To answer this we need to first start with business performance and the role of UX in the current business model. If a company has developed a software product which is used by a good number of clients across the globe then it is well understood that it is a well-received product.

Now the company has good data on which metrics of the product are giving revenues. All the key performance indicators of the product (KPIs) are observed and the company is confident to go for a design change of the product to align with competitors. This requirement will call for the UX Design.

When the UX starts it is important to keep in view the metrics, the KPIs, the clients, the audience who uses the product. UX design, in this case, is far beyond giving best interface and intuitive experience. It is about aligning with the company KPIs and following the processes to multiply the revenues.

Providing a design solution which retains the customers, bring in new customers, engage the users are all taken into account which will impact the ROI. Good design brings good business and great design grows the business.
